North Carolina State University filed its first Affirmative Action plan with the United States government in 1974, establishing efforts to increase female and minority student enrollment, and working on standards affecting female and minority faculty and staff at the University. This report was filed in response to a compliance review by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare (H.E.W.) on North Carolina's universities, which found that N. C. State was not in compliance with laws realted to equal employment oppurtunities. Each school and office, including D. H.
