Textiles
The Hill Library Makerspace provides tools and support for sewing and working with fabrics, and for integrating electronics into textile projects. Our sewing and embroidery machines are useful for creating, adapting, and repairing fabric items.
Materials in the Makerspace support hand sewing skills, sewing machine learning, and hand embroidery. These making skills can also be used for other electronic projects to create wearable technology. Wearable technology is an exciting area for innovation and creativity, with interest in it growing from both consumers and tech companies. Devices like the FitBit and Apple Watch contain sensors and use protocols very much like the ones you can learn and prototype in the Makerspace!
