As executive vice chancellor, the provost is the senior executive responsible for NC State’s day-to-day activities. The provost is responsible for the university’s 10 colleges and 12 critical corollary units. Materials range in date from the 1940s to 2022. North Carolina State University's McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education opened in 1976, but the history of continuing education at NC State University dates back even further. As early as 1895, the college began to hold short courses (and later summer schools) outside of its normal offerings to college students. In 1924, the College Extension Divison was formally established to oversee many of these programs. In 1965 this unit was renamed the Division of Continuing Education. In 2022, the McKimmon Center was renamed NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education. The North Carolina State University, Office of Extension and Engagement, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute provides community members aged 50 and up with opportunities to continue learning through courses, programs, and study trips abroad. Topics range from the sciences to the humanities and may be one-time lectures or as many as six week courses. A division of the McKimmon Center for Continuing Education, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute was founded in 1992 as the Encore Program for Lifelong Enrichment. In approximately 2013, Encore joined the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Network under a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation and became the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute or OLLI.

Materials range in date from 1977 to 2018. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at North Carolina State University was formerly known as Bursar, Treasurer, Controller, and Business Manager. The mission statement of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration is "By stewarding financial assets, optimizing physical resources and investing in human capital, we will work with university constituencies to position NC State as a premier land grant university and world-class institution." As of 2020, the Office consists of the following units: Budget and Resource Management, Campus Enterprises, Environmental Health and Public Safety,Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, and Real Estate and Development. These units report to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business, and they provide infrastructure services essential to supporting the students, faculty and staff of the university. In 2015, the name was changed from the Office of Finance and Business to the Office of Finance and Administration.

Materials include blueprints, budget items, correspondence, memoranda, plans for projected construction and renovation of campus facilities, and photographs. The mission of the North Carolina State University Facilities Division has historically been to "create and preserve a physical environment that advances the university." The division oversees the construction and maintenance of all campus buildings and other facilities, ranging from sporting venues to parking decks to streetlights. The division also supervises the purchase, sale, and upkeep of real property.

MoreThe Centennial Campus Records document the development of Centennial Campus from the initial 1984 land allocation through its twentieth anniversary celebration, with the bulk of the content focused on the late 1980s and early 1990s. Containing correspondence, proposals, reports, articles, brochures, clippings, electronic images, and other materials, the items discuss general design and development issues, the campus's administrative structure, the master developer (Carley Capital Group), Centennial Campus partners, the natural environment, infrastructure, facilities construction, and traffic. Materials range in date from 1974 to 2011. Between 1984 and 1985 Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. and Governor James G. Martin transferred over 800 acres of state land to North Carolina State University. The university settled on the idea of creating Centennial Campus, a "technopolis" where university units, governmental entities, and private industry could share facilities and collaborate on projects. From 1988 to 2000 Claude E. McKinney served as coordinator of Centennial Campus and shaped its development. Since beginning its operation, the campus has attracted a variety of prominent tenants, including ABB, Red Hat, Inc., and the National Weather Service and it has become home to the College of Textiles and the College of Engineering.

MoreThis collection contains blueprints, drawings, notes, sketches, memoranda, surveys, photographic slides, and master plans relating to projects and initiatives undertaken by the Office of the University Architect. The majority of materials correspond to Edwin F. Harris’s tenure as Campus Planning Consultant, beginning in 1966, and later as director of Facilities Planning Division, a title which eventually became University Architect. However, the collection includes materials that pre-date Harris, as well as more recent additions to the collection. The University Archives contains architectural plans, drawings, and other materials for university buildings; however, federal and state law restricts access to certain types of documents in these categories. The Special Collections Research Center of the NC State University Libraries will handle access requests for those materials on a case-by-case basis, with the intention of providing as much access as possible to researchers. To support the university’s mission and goals, the Office of the University Architect leads campus master planning, capital planning, space planning, campus design, and facilities data management efforts, which include the building floor plans, campus maps, GIS, and plan library.
