VML: Visit

The William Rand Kenan, Jr. Library of Veterinary Medicine is located west of the main NC State University campus, across from the NC State Fairgrounds, at the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Service animals are the only animals allowed in the Veterinary Medicine Library.

Directions to the VML

Public transportation

The College of Veterinary Medicine is a stop on the Wolfline Bus, which is free for all to ride.

Map of parking lots. The closest parking lot is across William Moore Drive from the VML. It's a visitor pay lot, and a lot for people with C-type parking permits. Other parking lots include the CBC Parking Deck, the parking lot outside the Terry Companion animal vet medical center, and free fairground parking lot across Blue Ridge Road.

Permit holders

Parking lots on the CVM campus are available for C (including CC, CCB, CD) and W parking permit-holders.

Visitor parking

Visitor parking permits are required Monday through Friday, 7am–5pm. There is a visitor parking pay station with numbered spaces: $2 first hour; $1 for each consecutive half hour. The pay station accepts credit and debit cards only (no cash). For more information, see NC State University Transportation.

Free parking is occasionally available at the Fairgrounds across the street from the CVM.

Library entrance

At the College, follow the Pedestrian Walkway signs to the brick walkway and enter the main building. Sign in at the visitor's desk if you are not an NC State University faculty, staff or student (desk is open 8am–5pm, Monday–Friday). Go downstairs under the whale skeleton, through the doors, and turn right.

Accessible entrance

The VML is accessible via an elevator from the main entrance to the lower level. A receptionist provides access to the area containing the elevator (8am–5pm, Monday–Friday). For access during the other hours when the Library is open, please call the library service desk at (919) 513-6218. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Late hours

After 10pm, a valid Wolfpack One Card is required for access to the Libraries. Card access at the front entrance to the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) only works after 10 pm for those associated with the CVM.

If you are a NC State faculty, staff, or student and your card does not work on the card access unit, please call the Library staff at (919) 513-6218, and someone will come to the entrance to let you in.

In the VML, books are shelved together at the south end of the library according to the Library of Congress classification system. Journals are shelved together at the north end of the library alphabetically by title.
