We provide instruction on library resources, services, and research.

Request a library instruction session or email us at library_instruction@ncsu.edu, and we will work together to plan the most appropriate instruction session for your students.

Writing and Speaking Instruction

NC State University Libraries offers instruction sessions specifically designed for introductory writing and speaking courses.

Discipline-Specific Instruction

Subject librarians can provide discipline research instruction tailored to your course content and/or assignment. Request instruction using the instruction request form, or contact your subject librarian. 

Research Instruction

We offer workshops for various research-related topics throughout the year, and you can also request a specific research workshop be given to your lab group, course, department meeting, extension office, or seminar series. Request a research workshop for your group

Special Formats & Technologies Instruction

The following groups offer specialty instruction:

  • Special Collections Research Center: For help with historical research, primary sources, or an introduction to your discipline, special collections can work with you and your students. Learn more about special collections instruction
     
  • Makerspace: Partner with our team to bring hands-on making, design thinking, and creative problem solving into your course. We offer customizable sessions that introduce maker tools, materials, and low tech prototyping methods that support your learning objectives and help students translate ideas into tangible work.   • Gaming & VR: Your students can play, analyze, and create with games and immersive media in ways that directly support your course learning objectives. Collaborate with our team for customizable sessions that may include guided surveys of relevant game and virtual reality (VR) experiences plus hands-on prototyping and digital making.   • Digital Media: Get support for multimedia assignments that require the use of the Libraries' digital media spaces or technologies.  Learn more about digital media instruction
