MoreThe records of the North Carolina State University Separations Committee span the years from 1974 to 1977 and include records regarding the formation of the committee and decisions made on how to deal with faculty separations. The documents include correspondence between North Carolina State University and other universities regarding separations policies, other letters, memoranda, reports, draft policies, comments on policies, and other items. The North Carolina State University Separations Committee was initiated when the ad hoc Committee for NC State University Tenure Policy and Regulation suggested to the Chancellor that procedures be developed in the event that a member of academic staff need to be separated due to 'fiscal exigency,' 'redirection of an academic program,' or medical disability. This initiative began in 1973, with the aim of providing North Carolina State University with strategies to deal with the separation of faculty.
