These records, containing materials from 1932 to 2015, include correspondence, meeting notes, administrative files, and other documents that detail the club's activities, including meetings, scientific lectures, research awards, administrative activities, and participation in activities of the national organization. The Sigma Xi Club was formed at North Carolina State College in 1938 and successfully petitioned to obtain Chapter status in the national Society of the Sigma Xi in 1944. The Society is dedicated to promoting and recognizing research achievements in a wide variety of scientific fields. The Chapter's activities include meetings, scientific lectures, research awards, administrative activities, and participation in activities of the national organization.
