Materials range in date from 1948 to 1979. The Department of Ethics was established in 1927, and renamed the Department of Ethics and Religion in 1939. In 1949, the department was again renamed, becoming the Department of Philosophy and Religion - a name that was kept until 2009, when the department was again renamed, becoming the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies is an active academic department at NC State as of 2010, and is administered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
