MoreThe North Carolina State University, Committees, Marine Sciences Council Records contain meeting minutes, assessment reports, correspondence, notes, by-laws, and a charter. Materials range in date from 1994 to 2011. The North Carolina State University Marine Sciences Council was established in 1995 to advise the Provost and Chancellor on affairs affecting marine science research, outreach, and teaching. The Council consisted of faculty from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the College of Veterinary Medicine. Because faculty were split between colleges, the Council provided a central focal point for marine sciences concerns. The Council played a prominent role in assessing and evaluating the Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST) based in Carteret County.
