The Charles Romeo Lefort Papers contains the newsletter, "Seven Up" which was sent to a group of students who graduated from North Carolina State College in 1937. The collection also includes correspondence between Lefort and Dwight Durham, C.S. Gale and Hall Morrison. A graduate of North Carolina State College (1932), Lefort was Assistant Dean of Students (1932-1941, 1946-1947) and Assistant Professor of Military Science and Tactics (1941-1942) at North Carolina State College. James B. Lasley's 1939 report, Hydraulic Transmissions as Applied to Automobiles, discusses the Lysholm-Smith Converter, the Manly Drive and the Wulfel Fluid Change-Speed Gear. Lasley proposed to build a system that combined the Manley Drive and the Wulfel Fluid Change-Speed Gear. The report contains 16 pages, including eight pages of type, one chart measuring rear wheel torque, one photograph of the Manly Drive, and three diagrams. The diagrams depict a "Lysholm-Smith Converter with reversing gears and cut-off unit," "Wulfel fluid change-speed gear," and "variable delivery pump." This collection contains a copy of a scrapbook kept by Hilbert A. Fisher (member of the Department of Mathematics) and files relating to William Norwood Hicks' (member of the Department of Philosophy and Religion) professional activities at NC State as well as information about the 50th reunion of the Class of 1922, of which he was a member. The North Carolina State University Faculty and Staff Collection was created in 1996 to centralize material relating to activities of University employees. This collection currently contains the files of Hilbert A. Fisher and William Norwood Hicks. Less
