MoreThe records of the North Carolina State University Career Center contain brochures, correspondence, manuals, reports, and schedules. The records document the activities of the center from 1957 to 2010. The earliest documents included are placement reports produced by the engineering department's placement center prior to the formation of the Career Planning and Placement Center in 1964. The University Career Center placement reports and interview schedules include statistics on numbers of companies coming to campus to interview students and number of students gaining employment or internships. The North Carolina State University Career Center assists students in preparing for professional careers. The Center was founded in 1964 as the Career Planning and Placement Center as conceived by Chancellor John T. Caldwell who saw the need to have a central placement office to coordinate activities for the entire University. Prior to the formation of the central office, each department and school's placement office operated independently. In 1993, the name was changed to the University Career Center. The University Career Center works to provide programs including on-campus interviews, placement assistance, and other services across the university while also supporting departments and schools with individual needs.
