A short biographical sketch of Polier containing photographs and clippings is also included. August Lewis Polier (1922-2000) was an architect based in Raleigh, North Carolina. He received a B.S. in architectural engineering from North Carolina State College in 1949, and worked for architect Richard L. Rice and later for the firm of Cooper, Haskins & Rice. In 1955 Polier began working with Jesse M. Page, and later became partner in the firm. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s the firm changed names several times. Polier was involved in a variety of professional organizations, including the North Carolina Board of Architecture, American Institutes of Architects, Raleigh Engineers Club, Construction Specifications Institute, and Raleigh Council of Architects. He retired from Polier, Ballard & Associates in 1988.
