William Ludwig Baumgarten (1885-1959), a native of Austria and graduate of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, was a renowned architect in Europe before he immigrated to the United States. He was a professor of architecture at the North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering from 1940 to 1958.
