The records of the State College Woman's Club (later the North Carolina State University Woman's Club) document the club's history and activities from 1919 to 2012 and include the club constitution and by-laws, annual reports, yearbooks, historical scrapbooks, photographs, membership lists, committee reports, newsletters, correspondence, agendas, minutes, expense and accounting information, and newspaper clippings documenting club, member, and university activities. Cookbooks produced by the group, Favorite Foods From Faculty Kitchens (1974) and Foods That Rate at NC State (1983), are also included. Spouses of many notable NC State professors and administrators were involved in shaping and leading the State College Woman's Club, including Mrs. Zeno Metcalf, Mrs. W. C. Riddick, and Mrs. B. W. Wells. The North Carolina State College Woman's Club (later the North Carolina State University Woman's Club) was formed in 1919 to "unite the women connected with the college in a common interest for the promotion of welfare and advancement of State College" (later N.C. State University). The club also sought to provide opportunities for faculty members and their families to become better acquainted with each other, striving to promote a sense of community for those involved in the university. Originally membership was open to all women connected with the university, though, especially in the early years, the membership focus was on faculty wives. It was published in 1987 to coincide with the centennial anniversary of the University's founding. Contained here is a black-and-white 8 x 10 inch photograph of the parking lot south of Tucker and Owen Residence Halls (dormitories) on the North Carolina State College (now University) campus. The photographer is unknown. The depicted parking lot later became Cates Ave. The photo shows the view to the west, and in the distance are some of the Vetville married housing unit. North Carolina State University was established in 1887 as the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (A&M College), and the College opened in 1889. In 1917, the institution's name was changed to North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (State College). In 1931, it became a part of the Consolidated University of North Carolina. In 1965 the name changed to North Carolina State University, and since 1972 it has been one of the constituent institutions of the multi-campus University of North Carolina system. Less

This collection contains one black-and-white photograph (5 inches x 3.5 inches) depicting the house lived in by Bob and Bettie Buhler in the Vetville community on the NC State College campus. The reverse of the photograph has a hand-drawn floorplan of the house. An additional email printout from the Buhler's daughter (Deborah B. Lincoln) provides further description about the house. Robert McCollum "Bob" Buhler was a student at NC State College (later named NC State University) in the early 1950s. Beginning in 1950, he and his wife Bettie lived in a small single-unit house (18 foot x 18 foot) in the Vetville community on the college campus. The house was disassembled and moved to Alamance County, NC, after Bob Buhler graduated in 1952. He was later a land surveyor in North Carolina and Georgia. Less

The College of Natural Resources photographs include portraits and candid shots of students and faculty in classes, labs, and outdoor settings. Prominent faculty members pictured include Carl Alwin Schenck, Richard J. Preston, and Clarence E. Libby. Photographs of meetings, conferences, events, and awards receptions are included. This collection also contains images of the buildings, laboratories, and equipment associated with the College of Natural Resources. Although the majority of the photographs are undated, these photographs range approximately from the late 1930s to the late 1990s; most are from the 1950s to the 1970s. The majority of these photographs are black and white. In 1929, North Carolina State College formally established the Department of Forestry. In 1931, the Department of Forestry was renamed the Division of Forestry, and in 1950, the Division of Forestry was elevated to School status and renamed the School of Forestry. The School of Forestry became the School of Forest Resources in 1968, and the College of Forest Resources in 1987. Finally, in 2000, the College of Forest Resources assumed its present name, the College of Natural Resources. As of 2010, the College of Natural Resources includes the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, and the Department of Wood and Paper Science. It contains photographs from dances and fraternity events, newspaper articles and clippings about sports, the Wataugan Vol. XIX, football programs from 1944 and 1946, football game tickets, a 1946-1947 athletic book and coupons, a 1946-1947 St. Mary’s Junior College Program, Saint Mary’s School and Junior College Formal dances programs, PIKA Ball Banquet programs, invitations to dances and an open house, a 1947 copy of the Technician, Smith’s School Schedule and Winter Athletic Book, 1947 sports events tickets, Adelphian-Alethian ball the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity invitations, the Civic Music Association and Broadway programs. The photographs in archival folders had come loose from the scrapbook. Materials range in date from 1944 to 1949. William Gilbert Smith attended State College (now NC State University) from 1945-1949. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity on campus and he attended many social events like dances and sports games. He later had a lifelong career with Esso/Exxon in aviation fuel sales and marketing. Less
