The following are Libraries staff who have received a shout-out from one or more of their colleagues for going out of their way to be extra awesome at their job.
Justin Haynes
We're really lucky to have Justin as our jack-of-all-trades for all things fabrication and making. Within our department's support of experiential learning, there's plenty of experimentation. It's grounding and reassuring to have access to Justin's expertise on a broad range of tools, processes, and a diverse set of design workflows. His ability to communicate around these topics is really impressive and unlocks a lot of our most intriguing and rewarding student success initiatives.

Kelsey Dufresne
Kelsey's leadership has been essential to the 'Femme Making Nights' in the Libraries' Makerspace. These biweekly events have broadened our aim to better serve and reach students and community members by devoting time and space that prioritizes equity and inclusion. These designated making opportunities have made an immediate impact in outwardly communicating our commitment to building experiential learning spaces that are tangibly welcoming to our entire campus community. I can't imagine such an ambitious and successful series of events without Kelsey's serving as a pillar for this work.

Darrien Bailey
Darrien's Libraries vlogs are such well-captured and professionally produced representations of student life on campus and at our Libraries. They've become essential tools for representing these stories to visitors, campus partners, and our State community. We're grateful to have Darrien as a collaborator with such enthusiasm and skill for telling these stories within our Libraries.

Jason Evans Groth
To address some audit findings and recommendations I was assigned to develop role-based training for NC State's ultra-sensitive data users. As a security practitioner, I had no previous experience in how to develop a digital training module and needed to ensure that it was professional for release as a university mandatory training. With some trial and error and support from OIT OCC I was able to develop a script and slides. When I arrived to use the Digital Learning Lab I was prepared to record a google slide presentation. With Jason's recommendations, expertise, and willingness to go above and beyond, he helped me deliver fantastic and professional training that I envisioned but did not know how to produce. He not only took the time to coach me during a recording session, but edited and used software to make sure that the slides, animation, and script were linked and made me sound fantastic.
Jason is a gem of the library and I thank him for all he has not only done to help me, but to teach me as well.

Brandy Briggs
Our "trashcan" Mac Pro, which we affectionately call the Dark Tower, was our go-to machine for processing born-digital special collections. One day, it just stopped working. (It almost made it to its refresh date!) Once we submitted a ticket, Brandy was quickly on it and verified that the Dark Tower needed to be replaced. She tracked down a temporary replacement, which she delivered the very next day.
We appreciate Brandy for always being responsive, willing to answer our many questions, and accommodating our specific hardware needs. This also includes advocating for an appropriate level of computing for the Dark Tower's temporary and permanent replacements. Thanks to Brandy, our digital archives graduate assistants can continue working not only without interruption, but on a faster machine!

Christina Prince
Christina is the magic behind the scenes for technology lending. She helps students get what technology they need on a daily basis and then always advocates for more resources when she recognizes needs for the collection. There is a lot of unseen work in technology lending from making decisions about what to buy, to repairing broken items, and making sure we have the items listed so that students know what we have to lend. Christina's leadership of the technology lending team helps get all those pieces done quickly. I really appreciate having Christina as a colleague.

Darrien Bailey
I reached out to Darrien about a video editing question and the response I got was the completed task! Darrien went above and beyond what I was asking for and helped me tremendously on an upcoming Libraries project that will be open to the general public. I really appreciate his work, creativity, and solution oriented support on this technical task. I'm grateful to have him as a coworker and all the skills and talent he brings to the Libraries. Bertha Chang, Moira Downey, Susan Ivey, Danica Lewis
The NIH extended its commitment to public access to NIH-funded research results which became mandated in late January 2023. Research administrators and researchers across NC State have been gearing up by learning the newly expanded requirements for research data management and sharing for NIH. And alongside them have been librarians from the Research Data, Sharing, Management, and Access (RDSMA) team. Members of this team contributed to calls for input by NIH as the NIH was preparing to expand their commitment to public access to research results. Members of RDSMA partnered with campus research leadership to develop outreach and guidance for researchers applying for NIH grants. When the newly expanded NIH policies were implemented in late January 2023, the RDSMA was ready to help researchers create and refine their NIH data management and sharing plans and figure out they best ways to share and preserve data. Along with the full RDSMA team, lots of credit to Bertha Chang (C&RS), Moira Downey (RFS), and Susan Ivey (RFS) who led the way. And a special note of appreciation to Danica Lewis (C&RS) who led the review of several draft data management and sharing plans by researchers seeking NIH grant funds since late January. I am grateful to these colleagues for collaborating across campus and for stepping up and supporting research excellence at NC State.

Hillary Fox
I am delighted to work with Hillary on the Alt-Textbook Project. Over the past year we have been working together at a time when interest in the program has never been higher. Together we have made continual improvements to our process and organizational structure. In doing so we have helped position the program to continue to grow and thrive.
An example of that is our collaboration over a Good Idea Grant to develop a Libraries-led NC State network within Pressbooks, which will create a new dimension around OER development across campus.
