Shout-outs to Staff
The following are Libraries staff who have received a shout-out from one or more of their colleagues for going out of their way to be extra awesome at their job.

Sarah Hawks
On a recent Friday afternoon, Sarah discovered that a bunch of study rooms at Hunt Library needed their upcoming reservations moved, due to schedule changes in the project to replace the whiteboard walls. It was a big pile of unexpected work on a Friday afternoon / evening. Sarah did all the work, citing the needs of students who count on their reservations for important purposes like job interviews. Thanks, Sarah, for your diligence and care, this time and every time.

Julia Reynolds, Glenn Privette
Whenever I want to know what's going on at Hunt Library, I check in with Julia Reynolds and Glenn Privette. They know. It takes a village to run Hunt Library, but Julia and Glenn are the key players. They know the history of Hunt Library, where everything is hiding, the quirks, and how to solve problems. I'm always glad to see them and know the place is in good hands.

Konteh Farrar
I want to shout-out Konteh for upgrading the zoom setup in 2CR.
Before the upgrade I had to come to the room 15 mins early to get everything set up right, and even then the sound or video still had issues.
The new setup is significantly better. It's incredibly easy to start a zoom, it's just a single touch on the new touch panel. The sound is much more pleasant for everyone in the room, and the meeting participants on zoom can hear us better as well. The default desktop image has been turned into a quick set-up guide which helps answer questions.

Herman Berkhoff
Earlier this week Herman configured my computing set-up making it better than it's ever been. I had no idea what I was missing! Not only did he set it up expertly and quickly, but he also dealt with some older equipment that needed a resolution. I am grateful for Herman's help, expertise, and positive reassurance. Herman is a fantastic colleague and he bring kindness and good vibes to our organization. Thank you, Herman!

Julia Reynolds
Julia does so much to support the User Research Team, especially when it comes to arranging for participant compensation. Thanks to Julia, we have been able to coordinate dozens of studies that have helped us improve our services, website, and spaces! I’m so grateful for her reliability and sense of humor.

Tori Culler
Tori has led 3 years of the Library Technology Career Jumpstart Program, which has given invaluable technical experience and career guidance to 20+ library/information science students. She leads the program with vision, organizational skills, and a sense of humor. And she amazes us all with her knitting and crochet skills!

Dave Provost
Dave recently completed a substantial ethnographic user research project. He was extremely thoughtful about recruiting a diverse cohort of participants, and I was amazed at how he kept them engaged through a 3-week study. Through his careful data analysis, we’ll learn so much about students’ preferences when it comes to study spaces!
Also: congratulations to Dave for earning his MLIS this December!

Lynn Whittenberger
Lynn is doing amazing work making records, controlled vocabularies, and classification systems more inclusive. These efforts are so important not just for our library, but for libraries everywhere!

Hilary Davis
Hilary is one of the most organized and thoughtful people I’ve ever worked with. She leads with composure and extreme competence. If there’s something to read before a meeting, for instance, I know she’ll have read every word and will have a thoughtful, considered response. She regularly lifts up and recognizes her colleagues. I’m grateful to work with Hilary!

Dawn Pearce
Dawn did an amazing amount of work on the Communications Infrastructure project, updating 20+ email templates within Sirsi and finding clever workarounds so we could make overdue notices and other emails more welcoming and readable for our users. Dawn is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to library systems!
