About the Alt-Textbook Project
Our Mission
The NC State University Libraries Alt-Textbook Project, with support from DELTA, empowers faculty to adopt innovative teaching practices while reducing textbook costs for students. Since 2014, we have helped instructors create, remix, or adapt high quality, tailored, educational materials that enhance learning and increase access. By moving beyond one-size-fits-all commercial teaching materials, the Alt-Textbook Project supports the creation of flexible, high-quality resources that better meet the diverse needs of NC State students.
The Alt-Textbook Story
Since our first grants in Fall 2014—when nine faculty saved NC State students over $250,000 with accessible, customized materials—more than 125 instructors have earned Alt-Textbook support. Today, the program is a nationally recognized leader in effective teaching and learning.
