NC State University Libraries is dedicated to providing access to all our collections, and works continually to ensure that materials are made as accessible to all our patrons as possible.Collections includes traditional print books and journals as well as ebooks, ejournals, datasets, streaming video and audio. Our efforts to make our collections accessible include audits of e-resources for accessibility, working with vendors to make their materials accessible and remediate content for NC State users, and evaluating new resources for accessibility as a part of the purchase process.
If you’re having trouble with a library item, contact the Libraries’ Accessibility Committee for assistance. We are happy to help you with finding materials in alternate formats or remediating content from our vendors, and providing information on the accessibility of our e-resource platforms.
Many ereaders allow users to modify the background color, font color, or font size to reduce eye strain. Look for HTML versions of documents to read online, or epub format downloads for the best range of options. These features are not supported in PDF documents.
Check out readability resources for online content on the libraries website and from the NC State University’s Disability Resource Office list of software, devices, and support.
The NC State University Disability Resource Office (DRO) is a great resource for students with disabilities. You can connect with the DRO to receive adjustments and/or accommodations, identify additional campus resources, and learn about legal rights and self-advocacy. DRO can also provide information on Assistive Technology available to the NC State community.
