General Accessibility Services

Accessible Books, Articles, and PDFs

Books and articles: The Libraries can scan or acquire digital versions of materials you need, such as books or articles. Place a request and indicate "I have an Accessible Course Materials accommodation with the Disability Resources Office" on the form.

Textbooks: In conjunction with the Libraries' making many required textbooks available for all Fall and Spring semester courses, we work with the Disabilities Resources Office (DRO) to provide accessible versions of these textbooks. More information on the program and further steps can be found at the DRO page.

PDF conversions: Upon request, library staff can convert instructor-provided scans into text-searchable PDFs. All electronic reserves items scanned by library staff are converted into text-searchable PDFs for use with screen-reading software.

Assistive Technologies Center (ATC)

Purpose of the ATC

The center provides technologies to facilitate library research and alternate format access to library materials for users with a variety of vision, hearing, and/or mobility-related disabilities. The ATC is available whenever D. H. Hill. Jr. Library is open (Hill Library hours).

Location of the ATC

View directions to the ATC. No appointment is necessary. If you'd like an orientation to the ATC (optional), you can schedule an appointment with a library staff member by calling 919-515-3364.
