To acknowledge that assumptions about someone’s gender identity could be incorrect, many organizations, including NC State, have begun to encourage community members to include a brief statement of their gender pronouns as they introduce themselves within a group.

Shout-outs are kind words from Libraries staff to other Libraries staff for going out of their way to be extra awesome at their job.
Special thanks to Kristy, Shaun, Cindy, and Rob for their ongoing effort in 2024 to migrate our existing Refworks users to Zotero and other citation managers after Refworks became an unsustainable product. It can be thankless work to have to communicate disappointing news to faculty and students as well as help them find alternatives. But BIG THANKS to you! Thanks to Kristy for her leadership of the team and to everyone for their thoughtful approach to supporting researchers, designing online materials, providing workshops, and more. I appreciate your user-centeredness as well as your good sense about us deciding to end Refworks access and how to support users with finding better solutions.

I brought an idea to the User Research Team: let’s learn more about the Faculty Research Commons users and their needs. Out of this idea came a great collaboration with Margaret, Robin, Meredith, and Cindy. We worked together for months to gather a variety of data, allowing us to dig into why, how, and how often faculty use these spaces at Hunt and Hill Libraries. From our study we were able to make more apparent the value and use of these spaces and give voice to the users’ recommendations for improvement. Each person contributed their valuable perspectives, time, skills, and technical know-how. It was a wonderful collaboration and I want to thank each partner for being part of our FRC study power team! Our collaboration is a great example of what makes it special to work at the Libraries. Thank you!
