These records document the operation of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Agents on a yearly basis from 1971 to 1995. These papers include lists of officers, membership rolls, minutes, newsletters, committee reports, programs, correspondence, photographs, 35mm slides, audio and video cassettes. There is also extensive information on the 47th National Conference of 4-H Agents held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1993.
The North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Agents was formed in 1969 for the purpose of promoting the Cooperative Extension Service's 4-H Youth Development Program in North Carolina in conjunction with the National 4-H Association's guidelines.
Formed in 1969 for the purpose of promoting the Agricultural Extension Service's 4-H Youth Development Program, the North Carolina Cooperative Association of Extension 4-H Agents has encouraged the profession of Extension 4-H and youth work in the state. The organization has been dedicated to the development of professional opportunitie and the exchange of ideas, methods and techniques for planning 4-H and youth development programs along with the National 4-H Association's guidelines.
The collection documents the operations of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Agents on a yearly basis from 1971 to 1995. The papers contain a list of officers, membership rolls, minutes, newsletters, committee reports, programs, and correspondence. Slides and photographs exist, starting from 1979. Cassette tapes recorded at the 1985 annual association meeting provide audio documentation of the proceedings and, from the 1993 National Association of 4-H Extension Agents Conference held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, there is a video production entitled, "Soaring into the 21st Century: Changes, Choices and Challenges." The organization's records also reflect North Carolina Extension 4-H agents' work in running agricultural shows, youth camps, short courses, and home demonstration competitions. This collection was formerly numbered MC 212 (MC 00212.)
