These records of the Leazar Literary Society at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) contain information about the society's creation, leadership, and activities in the form of minutes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and program announcements. A few items provide historical background on the Pullen Literary Society also. The Leazar Literary Society was organized on November 2, 1889, at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University). Its rival in debates and other intellectual competitions was the Pullen Literary Society, which was founded around the same time. The North Carolina State University company of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade appears to have been installed at the college by 1922 and remained active through 1975. The National Society of Scabbard and Blade was founded during the school year of 1904-1905 at the University of Wisconsin to foster the ideals and practice of military education in colleges and universities. The Young Democrats Club (YDC) has been the official youth arm of the Democratic Party since 1932. A chapter of the YDC was formed at NC State in or before 1954, as an organization for students with democratic political views to collaborate on ideas, and to promote democratic candidates running for various offices, both locally and nationally. The records of the North Carolina State University College Station Credit Union contain meeting minutes, correspondence, by-laws, and a membership roster. Membership in the Credit Union was limited to professional individuals associated with NC State. The North Carolina State University College Station Credit Union was organized by a group of faculty members in 1932 to provide financing to members at reasonable interest rates and to ensure the safety of deposited funds. Members of the Credit Union voted during a meeting in February of 1947 to dissolve the organization; this action was carried out after the August meeting of that same year. Less

The North Carolina State University Entomology Club was founded in or before 1959 by graduate students studying entomology at NC State. The activities of the club are largely unknown, but they did produce an annual newsletter, the contents of which highlight the work of students and faculty members in the department, as well as provide other general information about the department and those associated with it (present and former). The Entomology Club remained active until at least 1969, though has since disbanded, or may have been replaced by the Entomology Graduate Student Association. Less

The North Carolina State University Faculty Club was founded in 1958 by members of the faculty who were interested in establishing a social organization specifically for faculty members. After obtaining a grant, the Faculty Club was able to construct their own building (finished in 1963, and then known as the Faculty Club Facility), which is located on West Campus. In 1998, the club expanded their membership requirements to allow broader participation by allowing staff members and alumni to also join. The name of the club was changed to the University Club, and their building was renamed the University Club Facility. The University Club continues to be active as of 2008. Less

The records of North Carolina State University's delegation to the North Carolina Student Legislature (NCSL) contain a small amount of materials on NC State student delegates (including clipping, correspondence, rosters, and other general information), as well as materials from Legislative meetings, including committee reports, bills and resolutions, general information from meetings, the NCSL's constitution, and various items submitted by other universities in the Legislature. The purpose of the NCSL is to allow students a first-hand experience with the legislative process, while promoting public speaking and social networking skills development, and promoting the state-wide discussion of topics important to college students, often leading to proposals presented before local, state, and national politicians. North Carolina State University began participating in the NCSL in or before 1948. The university's student enrollment at that time allowed for up to twenty-five delegates to be sent to annual meetings (a figure which was used at least through 1978), though in some years, the university was represented by fewer than twenty-five students. Meetings of the NCSL were often held at the state governmental buildings in downtown Raleigh, just a few miles from the NC State campus. The records of Company L-4 (North Carolina State University's company) of the Pershing Rifles contain their constitution and bylaws; meeting minutes; financial records; files on their events, competitions, and other activities; correspondence; and publications, including newsletters published by Company L-4, as well as publications collected from the company's overseeing regiment and the national office of the Pershing Rifles. Materials range in date from 1953 to 1977. The Pershing Rifles were established by General John Joseph Pershing at the University of Nebraska in 1891 to act as an honorary organization for members of the ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) program. The L-4 Company of the Pershing Rifles was established at NC State on February 7, 1953, and participates in ceremonies such as the Color Guard and the Pennant Guard for university and athletic events. The Zeta of North Carolina Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa records include chapter applications, application committee business, and correspondence relating to attempts to establish a chapter of the society at North Carolina State University, as well as materials related to the creation of the chapter and induction of the original undergraduate members in 1995 and subsequent years. The collection also includes materials from two Triennial Council meetings and some photographs of the organization's officers and ceremonies. The Zeta of North Carolina Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa was founded at North Carolina State University on April 17, 1995 reflecting a tremendous achievement for the University. This collection also contains publications created by the Phi Eta Sigma national office. Phi Eta Sigma was founded at the University of Illinois in 1923 as an academic honor society for freshman students. North Carolina State's chapter was granted on 16 May, 1930, with the distinction of being both the 12th chapter nationally, and the first within the state of North Carolina (because of this, NC State's chapter was for a period of time known as the "Alpha Chapter of North Carolina"). Membership is open to those students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) during their first undergraduate semester. NC State's Phi Eta Sigma chapter remained active as of 2008. Less

The North Carolina State University, Student and Other Organizations, Phi Zeta Honor Society, Psi Chapter Records contain brochures, histories, a membership list, and an induction ceremony program with accompanying powerpoint file. Materials range in date from 1984 to 2017. The Honor Society of Phi Zeta began at Cornell University in 1925, with the first meeting occurring in 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. Soon after, several other chapters formed. The name derives from the Latin "Philozoi," meaning "love for animals." The object of the Society, as laid out in the Constitution, is "to recognize and promote scholarship and research in matters pertaining to the welfare and disease of animals." Meetings are held annually in conjunction with the AVMA Convention and two research awards are sponsored per year to help fund lectures at different chapters. The records of the Alpha Chapter (North Carolina State University's chapter) of Rho Phi Lambda include their constitution and by-laws, correspondence, clippings, meeting minutes, membership rosters, financial information, and other general information on the chapter, its members, and its activities. Because the Alpha Chapter also acts as the national office for Rho Phi Lambda, a small amount of national administrative items and correspondence can be found in this subgroup, though the majority of these records are specific to the Alpha Chapter. Rho Phi Lambda is an honor fraternity for students in Parks and Recreation programs. Rho Phi Lambda began as Rho Phi Alpha at North Carolina State in 1959, acting as an honor fraternity for the top academic students in the Department of Recreation and Parks Administration. By the 1980s, five other universities had established chapters in Rho Phi Alpha, though another fraternity was also serving as an academic honorary group for Recreation and Parks students nationwide - Sigma Lambda Sigma, which had been established at Florida State University. Professors from the two respective universities met to discuss merging the fraternities, an action which was carried out in 1985. The organization was renamed Rho Phi Lambda, and because NC State's chapter was the oldest of all chapters in the merged organization, they assumed the title of Alpha Chapter. Rho Phi Lambda does not have an individual national office - rather, since NC State's chapter is the Alpha chapter, they also act as the national office for the organization. The records of the North Carolina State University Rugby Football Club include correspondence, schedules, game records, financial records, and other club business. The records also include archived web content of the Rugby Club's official website, captured quarterly beginning in September 2020. The North Carolina State University Rugby Football Club was organized in 1965. The records for the first few years of the club's existence were reportedly intentionally destroyed. The club competed with a number of teams up and down the Atlantic seaboard as a member of the Eastern Rugby Union and later joined the United States of America Rugby Football Union. The team has toured outside the region, including vists to Great Britian and has hosted teams from the United States and abroad. Less
