iPearl Innovation Studio: About the Interactivity
The iPearl Innovation Studio opened in Fall 2020 as part of the D. H. Hill Jr. Library Renovation. In creating the space, the Libraries partnered with Relative Scale, a Raleigh experience design firm, to design and implement our vision for an interactive exhibits space. Together, we built our current system that incorporates digital media content and physical displays with a responsive touch-free interface.
Bespoke in its creation, there is no other exhibition space like the iPearl Innovation Studio. The basics of the space's interactivity are that image, video, audio, links, factoids, quotes and other text are programmed into our database and accessed in through hand motions on four large tables, each containing up to eight stations for exhibit content. Physical displays and other forms of innovative technology can be incorporated as well.
This design affords many options and opportunities for faculty, students, and researchers to showcase their work, generate feedback, and engage with library visitors.
