Visualization Studio Development Kit for Unity Game Engine
Augmenting an industry-standard creative tool to better suit the needs of our students, instructors, researchers, and other campus creators in a one-of-a-kind Libraries space.

This project offers a reimagined visualization of anti-apartheid photography published during the heights of state brutality in South Africa. Utilizing the Visualization Studio at the Hill Library, viewers may wander in this digital exhibition to see and experience the memory of apartheid through stories of South African resistance.

In March 2018 the Libraries' Alt-Textbook Project team placed whiteboards in the D. H. Hill Jr. and Hunt libraries with the question "How much money did you spend on textbooks?" Students answered.

Students experience the Bayeux Embroidery in life-sized digital replication on the walls of the Visualization Studio and analyze medieval visual narratives by applying Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics.

History students experience Neolithic remains, transcribe and transliterate runic graffiti, and interpret graffiti in relation to its space and place. The use of an immersive environment brings alive the questions and theories of the anthropology of writing and the archaeology of space.

The NC State University Libraries Textbook program is designed to reduce the burden of rising textbook costs on our student population, by purchasing and placing on reserve at least one copy of every required textbook at NC State. NC State students, faculty, and staff may search for Textbooks on reserve. The program complements our other textbook efforts, such as the Alt-Textbook Project.

The NCSU Libraries Mobile Scavenger Hunt is an interactive, technology-rich way to introduce students to the library. Developed in response to student and instructor feedback, it leverages the motivating power of situated learning and the fun of team game dynamics to orient students to the Libraries’ spaces, promote the use of emerging technologies, and foster confidence in using the Libraries’ collections.
