How to Enter the Contest

Interested in entering the contest?

To start the process, please fill out this Registration Form; this lets us know you're interested in entering the contest, and from there we'll be able to start the conversation with you about library resources, file formats, or anything else related to your contest submission.

When you're ready to submit your project, send the items listed below to multimediacontest@ncsu.edu.

What do I need to submit along with my project?

1. All submissions must include:
   • a 200-300 word overview describing the research process behind the project (You may include here any instructions to help the judges run your project)
   • a 50-100 word abstract
   • a bibliography of sources
2. All submissions must include visual component(s), but they may also include audio.
3. All submissions must be related to sustainability: balancing the needs of society, economgy and environment to ensure that future generations will have the resources they need to survive and thrive.
4. All submissions must contain one or more of the following as context: historical, social, or cultural context.
5. All submissions must be in a digital format, which may include: film, web site, animation, online exhibit, presentation, 3-D visualization, or video game.
6. All submissions must be openly accessible online or in one of the following file formats: .docx, .pdf, .jpg, .png, .tif, .xlsx, .pptx, .mov, .mp4 (h.264 codec)
   Any alternative format must be approved by January 11, 2017 by organizers at multimediacontest@ncsu.edu

How do I submit my finished project?

• For project files under 25 MB, you many email them as attachments to multimediacontest@ncsu.edu .
• For project files at or over 25 MB, you will need to use Velocity, unless you have made previous arrangements with contest organizers.

Step-by-step Velocity instructions

1. Log in to Velocity using your NC State email address and Unity password. If you have not already created an accounty using your NC State email address, click the "Create an Account" link.
2. Click "Create" and name the new cabinet "LastName Multimedia Research Contest"
3. Click on the link to the cabinet
4. Click "Upload" to upload your project files. Make sure you upload all three files!
   • Abstract (50-100 words)
   • Research Process (200-300 words)
   • Project File
5. Click "Manage Cabinet" in the upper left of the screen to get back to your cabinet after you have uploaded your files
6. Click the check box next to the Name to select all of the files
7. Click "Send File" and confirm
8. In the "Send to" field type multimediacontest@ncsu.edu
9. In the "Send From" field type your NC State email address
10. If you are submitting a group entry, type each group member's name in the message field
11. Click "Send"
12. "Files sent successfully" will appear at the top of the next screen
13. Click the door icon to log out
