Sexton named Associate Director for the Digital Library

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Sexton as the Associate Director for the Digital Library, effective 1 August 2018.

Sexton will provide vision and leadership for the Digital Library division, playing a leading role in shaping the future of the NCSU Libraries as an essential competitive advantage for learning and research. With administrative responsibility for digital library strategy and technology, Sexton will lead in creating an environment that enables students, faculty, and researchers to discover and create new knowledge and develop multidisciplinary solutions to contemporary challenges.

Sexton will also collaborate with the university’s Office of Information Technology and with Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications and will participate in the university’s collaborative IT governance structure and will build relationships with other research and technology partners such as the Data Science Initiative.

Sexton will represent the NCSU Libraries in the Triangle Research Libraries Network, national forums, and international initiatives, and will seek opportunities for partnerships with university faculty and external organizations, including sponsored research. As a member of the Libraries’ senior administrative team, Sexton will participate in library planning, policy development, resource allocation, and personnel management.

Prior to serving the NCSU Libraries as the Interim Associate Director for the Digital Library, Sexton served as the Head of Information Technology. She currently co-chairs the Information Technology Advisory Committee and is a member of the Digital Research Strategy Committee.

Sexton joined the NCSU Libraries from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries where she served as Head of Digital Research Services. In addition to earning the Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Rowan College of New Jersey and the Master of Science in Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science, Sexton was recently honored as a participant in the Leading Change Institute, CLIR/EDUCAUSE’s higher education leadership development program.
