Discover the Libraries during Winter Welcome Week

If one of your 2019 resolutions is to do more new things, then you need to be at the Libraries this week. Whether you are a new first-year or transfer student, or have been at NC State for a while, Winter Welcome Week (Jan. 2-12) offers lots of orientation opportunities for our technology resources and our terrific events.

Visit our booth at the Talley Student Union during First Year New Student Orientation on Thursday, Jan. 3 from 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and Transfer New Student Orientation on Friday, Jan. 4 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. to learn about all our resources and services, and come to special welcome events at the Libraries during the first week of classes.

Pack Legacies: Connecting to NCSU History

Learn about campus history, including who we have named campus buildings for, through materials from our Special Collections Research Center.

“The Escape Room @ the Libraries”

Register now for the NCSU Libraries Escape Room, an immersive game at D. H. Hill Jr. Library. Your group has to solve puzzles using a variety of our technologies to escape before time runs out!

“Makerspace Open House”
Wednesday, Jan. 9, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., D. H. Hill Jr. Makerspace
Learn about how to do 3D printing, 3D scanning, electronics prototyping, and other terrific Maker things in our Makerspace.

ARrival: Augmented Reality Winter Welcome

Try out the latest in Augmented Reality including the new Magic Leap One AR headset and other AR and Mixed Reality tools.

Get an interactive introduction to video games and audio production technologies! Play retro-style video games from the Libraries' collections and try your hand at DJing, mixing and Serato.

A/V Geeks: Doomsday for Bugs

Bugs—we love them, we hate them! Adrian Smith from the Department of Biological Sciences joins A/V Geek’s Skip Elsheimer to watch and talk about classic films about bugs.
