The North Carolina State University, Division of Student Affairs, University Student Center Records contain files documenting the activities of the Center, including the administrative and departmental transactions and the events and services which occured there, ranging in date from 1941 to 2004. Included are correspondence and memorandums, meeting minutes and agendas, budgetary and financial information, reports, rules and policies, departmental constitutions and bylaws, schedules, event and activity proposals, other administrative papers, newspaper clippings, booklets, flyers, pamphlets, programs, calendars, invitations, brochures, other promotional and publicity materials, and the scrapbooks and loose materials removed from them. Also included are archived versions of the web site of North Carolina State University’s Student Center.

The University Student Center of North Carolina State University is a student organization established to give students and other community members a centralized location on campus which provides essential facilities, programs, and services. It was established with the purpose of enriching students' lives by teaching them social and recreational skills, and to provide them with the opportunity of extracurricular activity without having to leave campus.
The earliest model of a student center on N. C. State's (then, State College's) campus was the King Religious Center (also called the YMCA Building), which opened in 1913. Taking note of the success of student unions on other college campuses, N. C. State took the initiative to create their own, starting in 1948. The first official student union was founded in 1951 and later named the Erdahl-Cloyd Student Union. In 1972, the newly built Talley Student Union replaced the Erdahl-Cloyd Union. Today, the College's student center is actually the University Student Centers, consisting of Talley, the Witherspoon Student Center, the Price Music Center, and Thompson Hall.
In addition to providing students with social and recreational opportunities on campus, the Student Center organization has always offered a number of other services. It is the host of programs for academic and professional development, including housing the Student Leadership Center and their Leadership Development Series. It has been renowned as a performance venue since it was established, providing theatre and music showings, film screenings, and forum discussions. However, in the 1970's, Center Stage was established and presented the community with award-winning musicals, theatrical and dance performances, musical concerts, famous speakers, and more. The Centers also support N. C. State's own theatre company, dance ensembles, and musical groups.

This series contains the Center's scrapbooks and loose materials removed from them.
This division into two subseries has been made due to the changing condition of the scrapbooks. Researchers viewing a particular scrapbook should consult the Removed Materials subseries for that year as well. The adhesive used to attach photos, posters, clippings, etc. to the pages has worn off, so that many materials have become loose. In an attempt to recreate the appearance of the original pages, loose items have been arranged on the pages on which they were found, and photographs taken in order to reconstruct the creator's original intent. Then the loose items were placed in folders labeled with the page numbers on which they were originally found. The photographs of the pages are available upon request.
