State of Sound Stories from NC State University Libraries invites individuals and groups to share their personal sound stories - their own creative paths that got them involved with sound - to highlight diverse ways forward for those interested in making sound a bigger part of their lives or careers.
Join us in the Hill Library Fishbowl Forum on Thursday, August 31 at 4:00 p.m. for a conversation with Erika Libero of the band BANGZZ.
Erika Libero writes songs, sings, and plays guitar for the Triangle band BANGZZ, a garage punk project that also features drummer Jess Caesar of Pink Flag and Dirty Little Heaters. BANGZZ’ sound has been described as “confrontational femme-punk that weds a Stooges stomp to five-alarm-blaze-yelps” and a “brand of punk noir” that is “all scuzzy irreverent riot girl catharsis.” From the release of the first demo “Fresh Cut” in 2019 on Self Aware Records, the duo has opened for bands like Screaming Females and Guerilla Toss, and have played festivals such as Hopscotch, The Fest, Brickside Music Festival and Manifest. A full length album, “You Took My Body Long Ago and Now I am Taking it Back” was released in 2021
The conversation will be captured for the State of Sound Stories podcast, coming soon to podcast distributors everywhere.
