Patents are a valuable, complicated, and often underutilized public resource.  Whether you're trying to figure out if your invention is new and novel, or just looking to explore a rich source of technical information, patents can be a useful addition to your search process. This workshop will cover formal patent searching techniques, free online resources for patent searching, and patent search tools available through the NCSU libraries.
