About This Event

The life of a family of peach farmers in a small village in Catalonia changes when the owner of their large estate dies and his lifetime heir decides to sell the land, suddenly threatening their livelihood.

This is Carla Simón’s second feature, inspired by her own farming family from Alcarràs in the Catalonian region of Spain. All members of the extended Solé family, young and old alike, are played by non-professional actors speaking the Catalan dialect specific to the area. The film was Spain's Official Selection for the 2023 Academy Awards for Best International Feature.

Not rated. In Catalan, Spanish and English, with subtitles. Running time: 2 hours. Watch the trailer here.

We are honored that Ryan Meilak, Director of Outreach, European Parliament Liaison Office in Washington D.C., will be providing the opening remarks.

Free and open the public. Please register here.

The Global Film Series is a collaboration between the NC State University Libraries and NC State's Office of Global Engagement.
