Event Description

The Friends of the Library Roaring '20s Fall Reception will feature the 2017 NCSU Libraries Faculty Award and a special presentation by Therese Fowler `00, MA `05, former visiting professor at NC State.  Therese will discuss her experience in the NC State Creative Writing program and her wildly successful novel, Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, now an Amazon original series.

Attendees will be treated to a 1920s-style cocktail party and other entertainment, including a show-and-tell of 1920s-era items from our archives starting at 5:30pm.  Festive attire is encouraged.

About the Author
Therese Anne Fowler, a native of Milan, IL, is the author of Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald and three previous novels. Her essays have been published internationally in newspapers and magazines such as The Week, the London Telegraph and Harper's Bazaar, and her fiction is available in multiple languages worldwide. Z, a New York Times, IndieBound, USA Today, L.A. Times, Boston Globe, Walmart, San Francisco Chronicle, and Publisher’s Weekly bestseller, has been featured in The New YorkerOprah, Elle, People, The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Vogue, The Washington Post, The Daily Mail, AARP Magazine, Southern Living, Australian Women’s Weekly, Marie Claire, The Telegraph, Stylist,Travel+Leisure, Harper’s Bazaar, Garden & Gun, and more.

Z has been adapted as an original television series for Amazon Studios starring Christina Ricci. Season Two of Z: The Beginning of Everything is currently in production. Her upcoming novel about Alva Vanderbilt Belmont is tentatively scheduled for a summer 2018 publication and is in development with Sony Pictures Television.

Therese earned a BA in sociology/cultural anthropology and an MFA in creative writing, both from NC State. A proud member of Phi Beta Kappa and PEN America, she lives in Raleigh, NC, with author and professor John Kessel.
