Mendeley

Mendeley is a free web and desktop reference management application maintained by Elsevier. Its basic purpose and functionality is similar to RefWorks, but instead of tracking your citations in a web database, it saves citations locally on your computer, and makes your citations available from any computer by syncing. Mendeley works with Mac, PC, Linux, and Ubuntu systems.

Installation:

1. Install through the Mendeley website. Mendeley downloads as a standalone application, and a browser extension (available for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) can also be downloaded for easily adding citations to Mendeley.

2. Create a Mendeley account. After installation, it is strongly recommended you register for a Mendeley account to enable syncing and groups.

3. Quick Start Guide. Mendeley offers a large number of help guides, including installation and getting started.
