About the transition to Discover
On June 24, 2026, we launched a new platform to find books, articles, and other items from our collections: Discover, a unified library search application.
What to know
- Discover replaced the Catalog (how you found books and media), Summon (one way that you could find articles), and the Journal Titles application—without losing functionality.
- Our main website remains the same.
- New feature: you can save items to your favorites for easy reference later.
A new login screen
Logging into your account or into Discover looks a little different. We’ve upgraded our login process to use Entra, along with the rest of campus.
- For Unity ID holders, the screen will look new, but everything is otherwise the same.
- For guests & affiliate users, you’ll need to start using a social (third-party) login using your Apple, Google, or Microsoft account. Instructions and more information were emailed to you earlier this summer. If you have any questions, please contact us at library_askus@ncsu.edu.
Items from other libraries
Discover does not have the option to view items from libraries from the Triangle Research Network Libraries: UNC—Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina Central University. (More about what happened to searching TRLN.) In December 2026, we’ll be implementing a new tool that will make extending your search to TRLN and other libraries as easy as it was previously.
In the meantime, you are able to request items that NC State doesn’t have through Discover via Interlibrary Services.
