About Visiting the NCSU Libraries

We welcome visitors to the NCSU Libraries, including the James B. Hunt, Jr. Library. Please note that the primary mission of the NCSU Libraries is to support the instructional and research needs of the faculty and students of North Carolina State University. Every attempt is made to tour visitors at times least disruptive to students and faculty using the libraries for these purposes. Our ability to arrange specialized tours for off-campus organizations is limited. We do expect to offer focused experiences for librarians and other practitioners in the near future.

Admitted and prospective North Carolina State University students are encouraged to visit the Libraries, either as part of a tour administered by the Joyner Visitor Center or independently.

At this time, we are unable to arrange group visits for K-12 students unaffiliated with North Carolina State University as we do not have tours or materials that would be appropriate for these age groups. Individuals under the age of 18 who are not registered NC State students must be accompanied by an adult. Adults who bring their children or minors into library facilities are responsible for monitoring their activities and regulating their behavior.

Note that building access to the NCSU Libraries is restricted to NC State students, faculty, and staff between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

For more information, please refer to the Rules regarding use of the NCSU Libraries.
