Open Source at the NCSU Libraries

Information Technology and developers from other departments in the NCSU Libraries work with and contribute to open source projects. The following list captures some of the products that fall into this category.

ReservesDirect

NCSU Libraries maintains a separate code base, derived from the original Reserves Direct at Emory Libraries. The NCSU branch of ReservesDirect is hosted with Google Code and released under the ReservesDirect License version 2.0. For more information please contact, Maurice York.

Virtual Shelf Browse

The Virtual Shelf Browse project attempts to replicate in an online environment the experience of browsing a bookshelf for item discovery. This is one way of providing users with the ability to “find more like this” in the library. The application also provides forgiving call number searching that supports "begins with" searches and "your search would be here" capabilities. The source code is hosted with Google Code and released under the MIT License. For more information please contact, Emily Lynema.
