Explore Hunt Library Technology

Naval ROTC StudentsVisualization, Immersive Display, Simulation, and Virtual Environments

The Hunt Library utilizes visualization as a tool for the creation and application of new knowledge within the university's five areas of research emphasis: health and well-being, energy and environment, education innovation, safety and security, and transportation. Designed with a wide variety of large-scale displays that present different sizes, aspect ratios, and configurations and capabilities, the variance in digital canvases is meant to encourage creativity in how we visualize the world of data and digital media. There is not just one viewpoint, one way of looking at a problem, and the Library's emphasis on large-scale visualization supports the diverse teaching and research mission of the university while providing a uniquely powerful tool for problem solving and unlocking gems inside of data.

Game LabGaming, Interactive Computing, Programming

Gaming is often the lead driver in human computer interactive technologies, and the Game Lab at the Hunt Library is designed to support this highly multidisciplinary field of research. NC State's own Digital Games Research Center acts as a hub for a program that spreads across the Colleges of Education, Engineering, Design, Management, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The Hunt Library Game Lab provides faculty, researchers, and students with an experimental commons to explore new gaming environments, methods of interaction, collaborative game design, and the role of gaming in education and training. The cutting-edge gaming environments developed in this lab will prepare NC State students for rewarding careers in the game industry within the Triangle and beyond.
