Because of the inferior paper quality, these may be proofs. The subject matter of all six is industrial, and they may depict textile factories in the northeastern United States. They date from circa 1910. Vernon Howe Bailey was an artist who lived from 1874 to 1953. He studied at both the Pennsylvania Museum School and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and early in his career he was an illustrator for American newspapers. For several years he worked in various European cities.
