Overview
The Special Collections Asset Management System manages the metadata for digital collections. The web-based interface allows authenticated users to edit descriptive metadata. Parts of digitization workflow and descriptive metadata are automated through semantic identifiers.

Technical Details
Special Collections Asset Management System is a Ruby on Rails application. It uses MySQL as a persistent data store and indexes resources to Solr database for use by internal and external search applications. The NCSU Libraries Digital Collections: Rare and Unique Materials application reuses these data stores for public search and discovery.
