Special Collections Asset Management System
The Special Collections Asset Management System manages the metadata for digital collections. The web-based interface allows authenticated users to edit descriptive metadata. Parts of digitization workflow and descriptive metadata are automated through semantic identifiers.
Overview
How We Did It
Special Collections Asset Management System is a Ruby on Rails application. It uses MySQL as a persistent data store and indexes resources to Solr database for use by internal and external search applications. The NC State University Libraries Digital Collections: Rare and Unique Materials application reuses these data stores for public search and discovery.
