Cambridge Structural Database (CSD)

Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) is a world-wide repository for small-molecule organic and metal-organic crystal structures hosted by Cambridge Crystallographic Data Center (CCDC).

NCSU has a campus-wide site license for the following:

  • CSD-Enterprise provides access to the CSD and all CCDC application software. To download CSD-Enterprise, contact OIT Software Licensing.

    CSD-Enterprise includes:
    • CSD-System is a suite of software tools and structural knowledge-bases for crystallographic and structural chemistry: powerful 2D/3D search, extensive geometry analysis tools, inter- and intramolecular interaction analysis, high impact graphics and API connectivity.
    • CSD-Discovery provides in one place all the tools you need for discovering new molecules.
    • CSD-Materials helps you explore new materials through analysing intra- and intermolecular interactions within the lattice, helping you to understand your material's behaviors and refine its properties.
  • WebCSD is the online portal to CSD (more information).
    • The following browsers are fully supported for WebCSD v1.0:
      • Internet Explorer v6 or later
      • Mozilla Firefox v2.0 or later
      • Safari v4.0 or later
    • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) v1.5 or later is required.
