WhenFriday, December 4
1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
This workshop is now at capacity. Thank you for your interest, and please stay tuned for future offerings!
In this workshop, participants will learn some basic hand-sewing techniques by creating Sensory Activity Blankets. Sensory Activity Blankets (sometimes also referred to as “fidget quilts”, “fiddle quilts”, or “busy quilts”). are small lap blankets with various sensory elements sewn on such as zippers, buttons, and beads that help people to release nervous tension. Sensory Activity Blankets have been widely recommended for people with dementia, those on the autism spectrum, and people experiencing anxiety or attention issues. This is a great opportunity to de-stress at the end of a challenging semester!
NOTE: This workshop will take place over Zoom. Kits with all the needed materials will be provided. Participants will have the option to have the kits mailed to them or they can pick them up at the Ask Us desk at Hill Library. Participants will be contacted with additional information on how to make sure they get their kit closer to the event. If you need your kit mailed to you, please register by Mon., Nov. 30th.
If assistive technology, live captioning, or other accommodations would improve your experience at this event, please contact us. We encourage you to contact us early about this to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
