About This Workshop
This session will go through the exempt eIRB application process (both the applicable eIRB application tabs and the exemption request form) question-by-question and provide targeted guidance for how to fill the application out and how to upload supporting documentation and what documents to upload. All learners will receive a comprehensive, annotated sample application worked through together during the workshop to serve as a reference guide for future submissions.
To foster an engaging environment and protect real-time discussions, this live workshop will not be recorded. Learners are asked to join on time, keep webcams on, and remain fully present and engaged throughout the workshop. The use of AI recording assistants, transcription tools, or external recording software is strictly prohibited. Attendees utilizing these tools will be immediately removed from the workshop. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining an interactive learning space.
Workshop Prerequisite & Eligibility: Students—including graduate students who hold faculty or staff roles—must successfully complete IRB Basics Part 1 or obtain instructor permission to enroll. REPORTER will not allow students to register for this workshop unless they have either already completed IRB Basics: Part I, have an active registration for an IRB Basics Part 1 instance that will take place before the IRB Basics Part 3A workshop, or have instructor permission to enroll. Non-student faculty and staff are exempt from the training prerequisite.
To request a prerequisite waiver, email IRB-Coordinator-Ed@ncsu.edu detailing your experience with IRB applications and review processes, as well as your understanding of the differences between exempt and non-exempt studies. Please note: Completing the CITI Human Subjects Research Basic course or a graduate-level research methods course does not qualify for a prerequisite waiver.
