Data Science Special Topics: Agentic Coding with Claude

AI agents can now read your files, run code, and fix their own errors — which makes the real skill knowing how to set one up, steer it, and check it. Join us for a hands-on introduction to Claude Code, from install to first working task. We'll cover what an agent is and how it differs from a chatbot, walk through installation together, and get comfortable with slash commands and the features that make the biggest difference — project memory, custom commands, and skills. Then we'll hand it a small task and watch the read → plan → act → verify loop in full, including where it goes wrong and how you catch it. This session is beginner-friendly and takes place online; you'll leave with a working setup and the habits to use it responsibly.

Note: You're welcome to attend and watch — nothing is required to join. If you'd like to follow along hands-on, you will need your own Claude account set up before the session, as Claude Code is not covered by a campus-wide license and we won't be able to create accounts during the workshop.
