Shout-outs are kind words from Libraries staff to other Libraries staff for going out of their way to be extra awesome at their job.
I have been involved in a lot of event planning this year and each time when I have needed something from Kristen Rivers she goes above and beyond. Whether it was last minute coffee for an LFC meeting or facilitating a retirement party, Kristen comes in and makes sure we have everything we need and that our events are welcoming and trouble free. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the hard work that Kristen puts in and the joyful way that she makes it all look easy.

A huge shout-out to the members of our Student Assistant Program Committee! Among other initiatives, they have coordinated incredible professional development events aimed at supporting the development of our student assistants—including a career panel of librarians who engaged students in exploring potential careers in libraries, and an alumni event where former Libraries student assistants returned to share how their experiences at the Libraries shaped their career trajectories post-NC State. I appreciate the truly great work that this committee put into thoughtfully designing these programs, and in considering the different ways we can continue to invest in the growth of our amazing student assistants. Thanks for all of your efforts, folks!

Thanks to Kristen for being such a big help during a recent visit from UGA Libraries. She reserved parking, provided our guests with maps and directions, and handled the set up and clean up for lunch. Whenever questions came up, she answered quickly and thoroughly. For the past couple of years I have collaborated with Kristen to organize the Libraries New Faculty Lunch and Orientation. It’s been wonderful to work with her each time! She does an exceptional job with communicating with the faculty, organizing the various details for the event (programs, list of participants, name tags, etc.) and puts together a great lunch spread that accommodates all sorts of dietary needs. She always brings warmth to our interactions and attention to detail to the planning. The event goes smoothly with Kristen’s help and is appreciated by the faculty attendees. Big shout out to Kristen for all her work organizing the catering and food on a writing retreat organized as part of a grant award from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Kristen was able to make all the arrangements go incredibly smoothly, even with the event taking place outside of Raleigh. All the participants commented on the fantastic food. Thanks, Kristen, for making the food part of the trip amazing, we really appreciate it.
