Campus Canopy Census

Join the Tree Hugger Team and help NC State's Urban Forester manage our campus forest!

There are thousands of valuable trees scattered across campus requiring monitoring and maintenance for proper stewardship. All students are invited to contribute data to the Campus Canopy Census to help us learn about the health of our campus trees, the carbon they sequester, and reasons why they are important to you.

How to Participate

1. Sign up using our Google Form
2. Between October 12 - October 16, stop by the table in the Hill Library lobby to pick up a tree circumference tape measure and learn how to start collecting data.
3. Measure (hug) trees of your choice anywhere on campus!
4. Between October 12 - October 16, return your tape to the table in the Hill Library to get a Campus Canopy Census sticker and prizes. The first 50 people to complete the challenge will receive Pack Science Challenge t-shirts, and the top three sequesters will receive Campus Canopy Census Yeti mugs.
