About This Workshop
Getting Started with Blender is a fast, hands-on introduction for absolute beginners. We’ll cover the interface, viewport navigation, object transforms, basic modeling with primitives and modifiers, sculpting, and simple materials, lighting, camera, and rendering. Participants will complete a small "still-life" scene from start to finish and export assets in common formats for games or film. A premade project file with checkpoints will be provided! No prior experience required.
Speaker Bio: Hi! I'm Mitchell, I'm currently a graduate student in NC State's MADTech program with an undergraduate in Computer Science. My background is in 3D art, software development, and game design. I've also contributed to multiple experimental XR technologies with my work at NC State and NASA. I found a passion for teaching when I ran the Video Game Development Club here during my undergrad, and gave regular workshops on game devlopment skills. I'm excited to help you grow your skills and gain confidence in your tools. Let's make something cool together!
