Banned Books Week Panel Discussion

Join us for a panel discussion about book challenges, attempts to ban and restrict books at public and school libraries, and the climate surrounding the right to read and intellectual freedom. Moderated by Scott Summers, assistant director of the Media and Education Technology Resource Center (METRC) in the College of Education at NC State University. Panelists include: 

• Representative Julie von Haefen, 36th District, North Carolina House of Representatives 
• Julie Stivers, school librarian and School Library Journal School Librarian of the Year, 2023
• April Dawkins, assistant professor, Information, Library, & Research Sciences department in the School of Education at UNC-Greensboro
• Lynn Edmonds, District 5 Representative, Wake County Board of Education and a Member-at-Large on the Wake County Library Commission
