The Arcade: A Showcase of Student-Made Video Games
On view Thursday, September 7, 2023 to Friday, August 1, 2025
About This Exhibit
The Arcade is a collection of video games made by NC State students, showcasing a wealth of talent in design, software development, and production. The games are diverse in many ways, created by individuals and large groups, built for academic courses, in game jams, and independent projects. They deploy a variety of game mechanics and represent a spectrum of genres. Many of the creators are connected with NC State’s vibrant Video Game Development Club community.
The Arcade’s custom-built computer kiosk allows you to browse through the collection and play each game using touchscreen, keyboard and mouse, or a game controller. The web-based platform for hosting and playing the games was itself built by students working for the Libraries: Elliott Schultz (development) and Jillian Swaim (design).
