About This Event
High-Performance Computing (HPC) is most often associated with research done in the sciences, such as developing climate models, simulating astrophysical phenomena, or designing and testing chemical compounds. However, there are also use cases in the humanities that can benefit from access to HPC resources. In this presentation, Dr. Ted Underwood (School of Information Sciences/English, University of Illinois) and Dr. Paul Fyfe (English, North Carolina State University)--and both current fellows at the National Humanities Center--will talk about their work on text mining in large digital libraries (Underwood) and visual analytics in large newspaper corpora (Fyfe).
