NCSU Libraries to Host Visiting Research Librarian

The NCSU Libraries is honored to have been selected to host Solvej Vorster, Visiting Research Librarian from the University of Cape Town, from March 2 “ 29 April 29, 2011.

Vorster is branch librarian for the University of Cape Town's Hiddingh Hall Library, serving the departments of fine art, historical studies, and drama. Her visit is part of an initiative funded by the Carnegie Corporation with South Africa's three leading universities (Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Witwatersrand). The initiative's principal purpose is to improve library service for researchers in South African universities.

Following completion of an intensive Library Academy  in South Africa, Vorster was selected to join a cohort of librarians who are visiting US libraries as part of this program. The cohort will complete an orientation and immersion program at the Mortenson Center, University of Illinois before joining the host libraries, and will attend the ACRL 2011 conference .

During her time as Visiting Research Librarian with the NCSU Libraries, Vorster will be affiliated with the Collection Management department and the Design Library. She will participate in library activities and initiatives focused on support for research.
